The Department of Economics organized a lecture on Regulatory Issues in Islamic Finance”, delivered by Professor Dr. Rodney Wilson, Emeritus Professor of Banking and Finance, Durham University, UK. Prof. Dr. Mubbsher Munawar Khan, Dean Faculty of Commerce and Principal, Hailey College of Banking and Finance presided over the Ceremony. Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Anwar welcomed the guest to the University of the Punjab.
Prof. Rodney Wilson explained the issues related to Islamic Finance, and delineated upon various aspects related to the Islamic Financial Industry. Using his vast experience in the filed, he elaborated on various regulatory issues while linking it with non-Islamic Finance.
The discussion was followed by an interactive question answer session, where the audience and Professor Wilson shared ideas, opinions, and elaborated on various ramifications of the ideas presented in the lecture.
Prof. Dr. Mubbsher Munawar Khan thanked the distinguished guest for his visit to the University and for delivering the lecture. At the end, the distinguished guest was presented a Punjab University shield as a token of appreciation.
Earlier, Prof. Wilson was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Anwar Ch, Chairman, Department of Economics and discussed with him issues of mutual interest.
